In the fast-paced world of business, time is of the essence. The quicker we can accomplish tasks, the more we can achieve. Fortunately, NetSuite offers a variety of abbreviations and shortcuts that allow you to navigate dashboards, reports, and searches with remarkable speed and efficiency. These simple yet powerful techniques can significantly enhance your team's productivity on a daily basis.

Our team at JS Boss has taken the time to identify some of the most helpful and efficient NetSuite shortcuts. Lets dive in and see what can improve your workflow and save you precious time.

1. Rapid Global Search Shortcuts

The Global Search feature is a powerhouse for locating data swiftly in NetSuite. You'll find the Global Search box at the center of the Oracle NetSuite header, visible regardless of your current page. Access it instantly using Alt+G.

To further refine your search, leverage record type prefixes as search keywords. These prefixes consist of standard or custom record type abbreviations followed by a colon or caret. For instance:

  • Case (CAS)

  • Contact (CON)

  • Customer (CUS)

  • Estimate (EST)

  • Item (ITE)

  • Job

  • Opportunity (OPP)

  • Sales Order (SAL)

By employing prefixes, you can streamline searches and optimize results. For example, typing CUS: ABC narrows down your search to customers with "ABC" in their name.

2. Keyboard and Dashboard Shortcuts

When it comes to editing forms or completing tasks, NetSuite offers shortcuts that simplify date entry:

  • Press t for today's date.

  • Press y for yesterday's date.

  • Press T (uppercase T) for tomorrow's date.

  • Press m for the last day of the month.

  • Press p for the end of the current accounting period.

  • Press l (lowercase L) for the end of the previous accounting period.

  • Use + to increase the date by one day.

  • Use - to decrease the date by one day.

3. Navigational and Shortcut Portlets

Custom portlets are your ticket to a customized dashboard for streamlined navigation. Personalize your dashboard by clicking "Personalize" in the upper right corner or through the Settings portlet.

The Navigation Portlet SuiteApp is a great tool to group and categorize your frequently used shortcuts or links within NetSuite. This portlet displays your customized groups and categories, allowing easy access.

The Shortcuts Portlet and Menu offer quick access to frequently used records, transactions, lists, and reports. You can customize the links, add or remove them, and even open linked pages in new windows for enhanced productivity.

4. Tailoring Email Preferences

Managing emails in NetSuite becomes more efficient with personalized email profiles:

  • Define the name that appears in the "From" field.

  • Specify the "From" email address.

  • Create a custom email signature.

You can customize your email signature using HTML markup, allowing for rich-formatted text, images, and links. If HTML isn't your forte, NetSuite's email editor simplifies the process. You can even add images to your signature with ease.

Efficiency is key and these NetSuite shortcuts will save you valuable time. Embrace them and watch as your workflow becomes smoother and more time-effective than ever before.

Our team at JS Boss are experts with many years of experience working in the NetSuite ecosystem and are here to help configure the most effective instance of NetSuite for your organization.
